About Adrian
Adrian began his illustration career at the age of two, when he created his first drawing, titled ”a boot with the pants tucked in”, a depiction of the tights and footware common to all his favorite superhero characters.
Throughout his school years, Adrian excelled in art and creative writing. Never without a pencil in his hand, Adrian created countless cartoon strips and comic pages featuring his own invented characters and their worlds.
As a teenager, he worked at Hi De Ho Comic Shop in Santa Monica, CA. The shop was a veritable museum of popular art, where Adrian was immersed in the entire history of cartooning and popular illustration. This exposure marked the beginning of his informal education as an illustrator.
Adrian attended Otis College of Art and Design where his senior project—a letterpress book entitled “The Ballad of Stagolee”—won the school’s Medal of Distinction for its gritty woodblock illustrations which told a story of blues music and racial persecution in the American South.
While still attending school, Adrian got an opportunity to work professionally in the apparel business as a designer for graphics and textiles. This graphic design career has seen Adrian create work for such legendary brands as Gap, Apple, Nike, Target, J Crew and The North Face.
Adrian has recently returned to his original creative passion—creating fantastical characters and writing and drawing stories. With many proud accomplishments to look back on, Adrian feels the best chapter of his career is yet to come as he enters the world of animated filmmaking.
